a Tree & a House

Hello to you lovely people that come by and read these lines.

I have two things to show you today. First one is a tree brooch that I made as an entry for a craft challenge over at dA. I always admire those wire wrapped tree pendants so I decided to make one but as a brooch, with the background and little seed beads sewn onto it. And I wanted to try coloring the felt like Mrs. Deborah does so this was a perfect project for it.

Tree Brooch

It came out really nice and the only thing I'm not so sure about is it's edge. I kept trying to add things to it - different beads - but it just didn't look right. So I decided this was it and left it like this. Maybe anything else on the edge would distract from the tree anyway.

I would really love to know how it looks to you as input from non-family members is very valuable to me :)

For the second thing; if you wondered what was on the photo from my WIP Wednesday No.3 post, wonder no more:

Box House

It is the house/box in which Mr. Cat and Mr. Fish  will be traveling to Ireland in. I'm glad I finally finished it even though it's not at all as I wanted it to be. But I really need to send them off and get to other projects.

And how are you? What have you been up to?

WIP Wednesday No.3

It's Wednesday already which means brand new photos are in order. It's going to be only one this time as I have been busy with all sorts of other things. More like "boring real life" things. That take up way too much time. But at least I managed to make a teeny tiny progress on the smaller box from last week's photo. I hope I'll be able to offer more soon as the thing needs to be done like yesterday! Wish me luck!

Thank you! :)

Sleeping Fox

Yesterday was my mother's birthday and I made her this cute little sleeping fox brooch. She really liked it so it made all the needle poking worth wile :)

Sleeping Fox - II

I really don't have much to tell you about this little fox except that it was rather hard photographing her due to the greyness outside. I think I'll have to make me one of those light boxes to shoot these kind of little items in. Yes. That would be a very wise thing to do.

Sleeping Fox - IV

Here you have her in my hand for size comparison... quite tiny isn't she?

WIP Wednesday No.2

It's Wednesday already which means another sneak peak onto my work area.

wip box 2

This time, there are boxes on it. At the back it's a small tall shaped one that will be the box in which Mr. Cat and Mr. Fish will be traveling to their new home. In front, it's the cardboard fruit basket that I decided to embellish a little while testing out stuff I have never tried before. Like using home made stamps for instance.

I'm not sure I'll end up using stamps though. Not sure (as usually) what to put on it but I'll get it. It's practice piece, doesn't have to be perfect. Right? Right! :)

Mr. Cat

Let me introduce to you Mr. Cat and his best friend Mr. Fish:

Mr. Cat II

He is going to Ireland to live with Mark as my part of an art trade and I'll be getting a drawing.

When I was thinking about what to make as an accessory for the photo shoot it occurred to me I should make something from Mark's drawings and I chose this "little" fish he drew here.

Mr. Cat I

As you can see Mr. Cat is fully pose-able; he is needle-felted with wire armature underneath. Mr. Fish is just an ordinary toy so he really doesn't need to be able to move, right? He was sewn from white felt first and then I needle-felted the colors onto him. I added black stitches because they were on the drawing and I wanted to add those scales too but I realized that would look too busy so I skipped that part.

Mr. Cat III

I still have to finish the box he'll be traveling in but I wanted to post his photos as soon as I could.
I'm trying to post my works in a group called "A Piece A Week - 2013" over at FB and this will be my submission for week 6.

WIP Wednesday

I'm thinking about having regular posts on Wednesdays and they would be about the things I'm currently working on. I know regular is hardly in my vocabulary when it comes to creating but hey... this should work, right?

mc wip

So here's what's been sitting on my desk today. I've been working on this fellow since Friday and I'm getting him done later today I think. I still need to make some kind off accessory for him to have for the proper photo shoot and then he'll be off to his new home as an art exchange. I'll be getting a drawing done just for me and I can't wait to get it :)
